England all-rounder Chris Woakes says if they bat well on Saturday they could set up a Sunday victory push over Pakistan in the third Test at Edgbaston.
The home side enjoyed a wonderful third day to wrestle control of the match away from Pakistan, finishing on 120-0 in their second innings, a lead of 17 over the tourists.
Pakistan had been bowled out for 400 in reply to England’s 297, so the match is perfectly poised going into the weekend.
“It might depend on the weather a bit, but we’re obviously in a good position now,” said Woakes, the Warwickshire seamer who is playing on his home ground. “If the openers can score some runs early tomorrow and get us in a good position then maybe we can have a crack at them.
“We’ve had a really good day. The way we came out this morning… We felt we deserved more yesterday so we were fired up and we got our rewards
